Lesandro Ponciano is an active researcher and professor in the fields of computer science and participatory science. He holds a Ph.D. and an M.Sc. in Computer Science, as well as a B.Sc. in Information Systems.
Lesandro has made relevant contributions to distributed computing, human computation, and citizen science. His work primarily focuses on quantitative empirical research, encompassing system characterization, simulation, modeling, and evaluation based on metrics and estimates related to human factors such as trust, privacy, and explainability. His scientific achievements extend to parallel and distributed computing infrastructure for e-science, citizen science, and participatory science.
Currently, Lesandro teaches courses related to Human-Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, and Information Systems. He is also actively involved in initiatives promoting public participation in science and design, leveraging collaborative approaches to advance citizen science projects.
Lesandro is a dedicated member of several professional organizations, including the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (SBPC) and the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC). He is also affiliated internationally with the Red Iberoamericana de Ciencia Participativa (RICAP).
Throughout his career, Lesandro has been recognized for his distinction in both teaching and research, earning accolades from students and peers alike. His ongoing work continues to contribute significantly to the fields of computer science and collaborative scientific endeavors.
